Dr. Tasneem F. Shamim received her Bachelors Degree in chemistry with honors in 1977 from Rutgers College after 2 years of study. After her undergraduate studies, she attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. In 1981, she began her postdoctoral training in medicine at Robert Wood Johnson, and in 1985 completed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. Dr. Shamim is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Dr. Shamim has worked in New Jersey for her entire professional career. She has had her private practice in ophthalmology in Somerset, NJ for over 25 years. As well as practicing full time, Dr. Shamim works as a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She has also participated in FDA studies as Clinical Research Investigator for various cholesterol, neurological and psychiatric drugs.
